(Riverton, WY) – Riverton’s gymnasts are no stranger to competitions, traveling hundreds of winter miles to compete at various events in Casper, Gillette, Sheridan, Rapid City and beyond. For the first time ever, they’ll compete at home Saturday and Sunday.
Next Level Gymnastics is set to host the weekend event at the St. Margaret’s School gymnasium, which will bring ten different teams from Wyoming and South Dakota and over 230 athletes. Parents, supporters, coaches and judges will also spend their weekend in Fremont County.
County 10 will also be a hot-spot for basketball fans this weekend. Both Riverton High School and Lander Valley High School are hosting tournaments Thursday thru Saturday. Because the Riverton basketball event will be held at multiple gymnasiums throughout the community, Next Level owner and coach, Sarah Hutchison explained that she was grateful to have the St. Margaret’s facility open and available.
Coach Abbigail Vaughn encouraged Riverton residents to help out-of-towners feel welcomed this weekend, with the hopes that the event becomes an annual tradition. “Because we’ll have so many gymnasts spending the weekend in Riverton, local businesses will benefit from additional patrons at stores, hotels and restaurants. The community can support us by welcoming all the out-of-towners and showing them our hometown hospitality. Our competition is open to the public so we would love to see community members come support our gymnasts as well.”
