(Riverton, WY) – The Roy Peck Invitational Track Meet is held each year in honor of Roy Peck, a track coach for the Wolverines, a middle distance runner, a World War II combat veteran and the co-publisher of the Riverton Ranger.
This year’s edition of the Roy Peck was played out in some of the best track and field conditions over the past decade, with no wind, rain, snow, hail, or blistering heat. It was a wonderful spring day, and the times and distances of the athletes reflected that.

Fremont County, there were nine boys who won gold and one relay team. The girls had four individual champions and a relay winner. With 18 events in a track and field meet, that was an outstanding effort for the runners, jumpers, hurdles and throwers from Fremont County.
Pacing the effort for the Riverton boys were Jameson Spradlin and Clay Sheets, who both won two individual events. Sheets won the 300-meter intermediate hurdles, and Spradling the 400-meter dash and long jump.
Joining these two for Riverton was Davian Spoonhunter, breaking the 10 minute mark in the 3200-meter run to win gold, and Kayden Liebrecht who smashed the 50-foot barrier in the shot put with an impressive throw of 51-11.75
Lander’s Brooks Even won the pole vault clearing 12-6 and Derik Ingwerson won the discus.

On the girls’ side, Shoshoni’s Prestly Barta cleared 4-11 to win the high jump, and Riverton’s Addison Alley had another win in the 100-meter hurdles.
Lander junior Adelyn Anderson continues as one of the top throwers in the nation easily winning both the shot put and discus. She hurled the shot 46-3.5 and the discus 144-1.
The Lady Tiger 4×800 Meter Relay of Katy Anderson, Ameya Eddy, Dorothy Jensen, and Daisy Goklish won the event easily in 10:15.28.
The final week of the regular season is upon us with a Friday twilight meet in Thermopolis and the annual Shane Brock Invitational in Lander on Saturday.
