(Wind River Reservation, WY) – Fremont County School District #38, Arapahoe Schools, issued a statement on May 22 informing the community that there had been reports of a possible school shooting threat, which have been determined to be false.
As a precaution, the school has requested additional law enforcement presence.
“Attention Arapahoe Families and Community members. On Tuesday evening we received a Safe to Tell report of a possible school shooter for Wednesday,” the statement shared on the FCSD #38 Facebook page informs. “Officer Lee immediately contacted local law enforcement and was able to conclude that the threat was false and dealt with Arapahoe in Colorado and not our community.”
The statement also says that a post and email circulated indicating a “threat today on the reservation,” but law enforcement determined that this was “false information” and that the “schools are safe.”
The precautionary, additional police presence will continue into tomorrow, and the school district can be contacted at (307) 856-9333 with any further questions.
Additionally, St. Stephen’s schools shared a similar message on Thursday morning.
“Attention St. Stephens Families: We received notification of a Safe to Tell report of a possible school shooter for Wednesday/Thursday this week. The BIA Police immediately was able to conclude that the threat was false and actually dealt with the Arapahoe High School in Colorado and not our community here on the Wind River Indian Reservation. There is a post and email circulating that there is a threat today on the reservation however that is false information and our schools are safe. Please call the administration office if you have any questions.”
