Wyoming is getting closer to allowing a select number of students from outside of the state to qualify for its in-state scholarship program.
The proposed bill passed the initial vote from the Wyoming Senate this week after clearing the House earlier this legislative session.
The bill would only allow for 24 students, at any given time, to qualify for the top-level Hathaway scholarship. Students must be from Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, or Utah.
To qualify for the Hathaway, students must have a 3.75 GPA in high school and excellent standardized test scores. The scholarship covers 80% of the student’s tuition.
