(Riverton, WY) – It’s been a long time since the Riverton Raiders beat the Cody Cubs. Tuesday afternoon and early evening, the Raiders ended the Cubs’ dominance with a sweep at Roy Peck Field. The Raiders took the first game 4-2 and the nightcap 11-5.
In the opener, Cody built a 2-0 lead with back-to-back one-run innings in the top of the third and fourth. Riverton erupted for four runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a lead, then held on defensively for the win.
Brayden Baker started the fireworks with a shot over the left field fence for a solo home run to open the fourth. Ryan Cox reached on an error, and Lee Maestas was hit by a pitch. Addison Trujillo advanced both runners to scoring position with a bunt, followed by Paxton Yeates reaching base after also being hit with a pitch by Jace Jarrett.
Cox tied the game coming home on a wild pitch, and Maestas did the same to give Riverton a 3-2 lead. The final run of the game came on a Jameson Spradlin single to left that scored Yeates.
Maestas went the distance for the Raiders on the mound, picking up the win.
In the nightcap, Ryan Cox put Riverton on the board in the second inning,g scoring on a wild pitch.

The Raiders scored again in the third when Spradlin hit a standup triple, then came home on an error by the Cody second baseman on a popup by Colter Heikkila.
It took just one swing for Cody to knot the game in the top of the fourth when Townsend Bailey sent the ball over the centerfield fence on a two-run homer.
Riverton regained the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth inning, loading the bases on a single by Baker, Cox reaching on an error, and Maestas picking up a walk.
Trujillo sent Baker home on a single to left. The final runs came on a fielder’s choice by Brayden Martin to second base. Martin was thrown out but Maestas and Cox both scored on the play.
Cody made it interesting in the top of the sixth, scoring a pair to close the gap to 6-4, but Riverton’s bats came alive in the bottom half of the inning.
Trujillo was hit by a pitch, Dane Cox singled, and Martin doubled lifting the lead to 8-4. Spradlin singled, then Beau Anderson doubled, driving in Martin. Baker hit a deep ball to right field, scoring Spradlin on the sacrifice, and Ryan Cox finished the onslaught with a single to center that scored Anderson.
Baker was impressive on the mound with 13 strikeouts. He yielded just four runs and three walks. Anderson came on in relief to tally four more strikeouts.
