It was originally a Zero Week opener for the Dubois Rams and the Riverside Rebels in a 6-man game at Wolverine Field in Riverton. After the initial game was scheduled, Shoshoni joined the two 6-man squads to add a hybrid aspect and change the game to a jamboree.
When Shoshoni had the ball, the teams played 9-man; when the Rebels or Rams were on offense, it was a 6-man game.
Each team took the ball for 10 plays, regardless of scoring or turnovers. There were no kickoffs, punts, or conversion plays. They started at the 50-yard line and either scored or stalled after 10 plays.
Coaches stayed on the field working with both offensive and defensive units.
Riverside and Dubois brought experienced squads to the jamboree. They should both be playoff contenders in Class 1-A 6-man this season.
The Wranglers have four seniors, but most of the 13 boys out for football in Shoshoni are freshmen. This was the first high school football for most of the Wranglers.
The 6-man offensive drives were constrained a bit by the layup of the field. In a regular 6-man game, the field is 40×80 yards. There were no 6-man markings on Wolverine Field, so the coaches agreed to use the numbers on each side of the field as the boundary. That made the field only about 33 yards wide.

When Shoshoni had the ball, the players on the sidelines moved back from the numbers to the regular Riverton sideline.
All three teams lined up on the west side of the field in front of the home stands.
A good crowd came out to watch the scrimmage.

Dubois travels to Ten Sleep next weekend for their season opener, while the Wranglers will play in Basin against the Riverside junior varsity in another hybrid contest.
