Description
Fremont County School District #1 is seeking proposals from qualified contractors to provide Special Education Coordinator services at Lander Valley High School (LVHS) for the remainder of the 2025–2026 school year. This contracted position will serve as the Local Education Agency (LEA) Representative for special education meetings and processes. The role does not provide direct student services.
The contractor will work collaboratively with the Student Services Director, LVHS Special Education Coordinator, school administration, teachers, and related service providers to ensure compliance with federal and state special education regulations. The contracted Special Education Coordinator will serve as the LEA representative for all required special education meetings at LVHS. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
IEP & Evaluation Coordination
- Schedule IEP, reevaluation, eligibility, and other special education meetings.
- Serve as the LEA representative during meetings.
- Facilitate meetings to ensure compliance, clarity, and efficient decision-making.
- Review IEPs, evaluation reports, and related documents for accuracy and alignment with IDEA and Wyoming Chapter 7 Rules.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Postsecondary transition planning.
Documentation & Compliance
- Ensure all timelines are met for IEPs, evaluations, and state/federal requirements.
- Complete and maintain all required paperwork, including meeting notices, PWN, and compliance forms.
- Monitor and support adherence to district procedures and legal requirements.
- Communication & Coordination
- Communicate with families, guardians, teachers, special education staff, administrators, and outside agencies as needed.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for parent concerns related to the special education process.
- Coordinate with the existing LVHS Special Education Coordinator to ensure smooth and consistent practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in special education or a related field (MA or MS preferred).
- Valid Wyoming certification/license in special education or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of experience in special education or a related field.
- Strong understanding of IDEA, Wyoming Chapter 7 Rules, and local procedures.
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Prior experience facilitating IEP meetings or serving as an LEA representative.
Contract Term and Schedule
- January 5, 2026 – May 29, 2026
- 25 hours per week, aligned with the FCSD #1 2025–2026 district calendar
- Work must be performed on-site at Lander Valley High School unless otherwise approved.
