Each week, staff at Riverton High School nominate a student who has shown outstanding behavior towards their peers and their academics. At the end of the year, County 10 will present a scholarship of $500 to one of the students nominated! Click here to view all students.
Jacen Jaite was nominated as the RHS student of the week by Annette Benn-Thornton.
Mrs. Annette Benn-Thornton: I am proud to nominate Jacen Jaite for Student of the Week. If you’ve spent any time around him, you already know he’s one of those people who can “Be the reason someone smiles today.” He has a naturally warm and friendly personality that makes everyone feel welcome. Jacen is the definition of a hard worker. He’s incredibly talented as both an actor and a musician, yet he never feels like he’s too good to learn something new. He’s always willing to step out of his comfort zone to master a new skill, and he manages to do all of this while keeping his grades up and staying on top of his studies. The thing I appreciate most about Jacen is his integrity and how responsible he is. He is a fantastic teammate who always looks out for the people around him. When Jacen says he’s going to do something, it gets done. That kind of reliability is rare, and it makes him someone everyone truly trusts. He’s kind, he’s grounded, and he’s exactly the kind of person who deserves this recognition.
Mrs. Kimber Tower: I want to nominate Jacen Jaite. He is very responsible in class and when I have seen him in the community. He is a great leader and just a good kid all around.
Outside Activities/Hobbies: Reading, woodworking, gaming, learning history, movies, traveling and building.
Student’s Plans After Graduation: I plan to attend UW and also be in the National Guard, so it helps for my future.
1. What advice do you have for younger students? Always do your work and there's no time like the present to do something.
2. What is your favorite school subject or activity, and why? I like biology because you learn how things are made and what their purpose is.
3. Tell us about your favorite artist (author, musician, actor, etc.) and what makes them special? Linkin Park because they talk about the struggles through life and always make it through.
