Each week, staff at Riverton High School nominate a student who has shown outstanding behavior towards their peers and their academics. At the end of the year, County 10 will present a scholarship of $500 to one of the students nominated! Click here to view all students.
Megan Nguyen was nominated as the RHS student of the week by Margaret Murray.
School Activities: NHS, StuCo, Key Club, Speech and Debate
Special Awards or Honors: 5th place in the CWC Math Contest (2024), 2nd place in 2023.
Outside Activities/Hobbies: Playing Sudoku, chess, and reading.
Student’s Plans After Graduation: Go to college for engineering.

Ms. Margaret Murry: I have been fortunate to know Megan through her involvement in speech and debate, the National Honor Society, and now, as a student in my class. Megan is a self-motivated, dedicated individual: she works hard to improve her skills in speaking events, takes initiative to serve as a leader for the National Honor Society, and displays exemplary character.
Mr. Meredith: Megan Nuygen is an exceptional student, that is always doing the best work possible and taking the most challenging classes available.
Ms. Annette Benn-Thornton: Megan works diligently and intelligently in every aspect of her academic pursuits. She thinks deeply about advanced concepts and themes. As a strong member of the RHS speech team, she is growing as a leader. Her effort is second to none!
1. What advice do you have for younger students? “Self-doubt kills talent.” – Edie McClurg. Many people don't try because they think that they won't do good anyways. You have to believe in yourself; being unconfident about yourself is a negative mindset.
2. What is your favorite school subject or activity, and why? My favorite school subject is science and math, because they encompass almost everything you can learn about the world.
3. Tell us about your favorite artist (author, musician, actor, etc.) and what makes them special? My favorite author is Tui. T. Sutherland. She has a book series, "Wings of Fire," that is still ongoing, with 15 books, and the plot is still intriguing.
