Each week, staff at Riverton High School nominate a student who has shown outstanding behavior towards their peers and their academics. At the end of the year, County 10 will present a scholarship of $500 to one of the students nominated! Click here to view all students.
Tessa Kenyon was nominated as the RHS student of the week by Kelli Gard.
Mrs. Kelli Gard: I have had the privilege of working with Tessa through FCCLA for the past five years, and watching her grow into the leader she is today has been incredible. This year, Tessa was elected as an FCCLA National Officer—one of only 10 students nationwide selected to serve in this role. She isn't just a leader in our school or our state; she is now representing students across the entire country. Having a student of her caliber representing RHS on a national level is something our school should be incredibly proud of.
What stands out most about Tessa, though, isn't the title she holds. It is who she is. When Tessa says she is going to do something, I know it will get done. She is dependable, organized, hardworking, and willing to step in wherever she is needed. There have been plenty of times when she has reminded me of something I need to do for FCCLA or helped me keep our chapter organized and moving forward!
She manages all of this while balancing cheer, NHS, FFA, FCCLA, and many other school activities and responsibilities. Despite an incredibly full schedule, she continues to show up and give her best.
Most importantly, Tessa leads with her heart and stays true to who she is. She doesn't need a title to be a leader; she leads through her actions, her reliability, and the way she treats others.
Tessa is a school leader, a state leader, and now a national leader, and I cannot think of a student more deserving of recognition as Student of the Week.

1.What advice do you have for younger students? My advice for younger students is to get involved and find your passion!
2. Who is your favorite teacher, and why? My favorite teacher is Mrs. Kirkland. She is crazy, but in the best way, and makes sure all students reach their best potential. She has pushed me to be a better person every day and has helped me reach my biggest dreams.
3. What is your favorite school subject or activity, and why? My favorite school subject is any FCS class! The best classes at this school! My favorite activity is any sporting event!
4. What makes your school special? Our school is truly the best. The way we show up for our community and support our students. I am so grateful to go to RHS!
