(Riverton, WY) – The Riverton Babe Ruth Select team is 3-0 after a 7-3 win over the Lander Lobos U-16 team on Thursday and a pair of wins in an opening four-team tournament at home on Sunday.
Riverton beat the Valor Vikings 12-2 in a shortened game to open the tournament, then edged the Cheyenne Mustangs 6-5 in the bottom of the fourth inning.
With the bases loaded, Becket Vosika hit a hard grounder towards third base, the Cheyenne shortstop mishandled the ball, and Riverton won via the walk-off error.
A highlight of the game came when pitcher Grayson Clark ripped a two-run homer over the centerfield fence in the bottom of the third inning to give Riverton a 5-1 lead.
Cheyenne clawed back to tie the game at 5-5 before Vosika drove in Jordan Hanson for the winning run.
Riverton is 3-0 on the season, with league play Wednesday at 6 pm. On Thursday, they host Lander, also at 6 pm.
