(Riverton, WY) – Two young Riverton residents were recognized by the Riverton City Council this week after earning statewide pageant titles.
Five-year-old TynzLee Dower, who was crowned Petite Miss Wyoming 2026, and Payton Westmoreland, the newly crowned Teen Miss Wyoming, shared a little about their pageant experiences during a council meeting Tuesday.
For Dower, the highlights were simple.
“We went to a beauty pageant,” she told the council. “We wore pretty dresses and made a lot of friends.”
Contestants also spoke about their community service and personal platforms during the competition, Westmoreland said.
Her platform centers on seat belt safety, inspired by her own experience surviving a bus accident when she was younger.
“I was in an unfortunate bus accident when I was younger, so I try to put seat belts in the buses,” she said.
Westmoreland said she also spends time promoting childhood literacy by visiting local day cares to read books with children.
“I go around to different day cares to teach about child literacy and read them books and everything,” she said.
Mayor Tim Hancock congratulated both girls on their accomplishments, telling them the city was proud to celebrate them.
“This is something that you can remember, and we definitely recognize you and celebrate you today,” Hancock said. “Keep up the good work.”
