Riverton City Council to consider approving three-quarter percent sales tax proposition during Tuesday meeting

(Riverton, WY) – The Riverton City Council will hold a regular meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, in the Council Chambers at Riverton City Hall, 816 N. Federal Blvd.

The agenda includes an introduction and oath of office for a member of the Youth Council.

The consent agenda includes a resolution granting a third extension to complete the construction of a commercial building at 422 East Main Street.

Another consent agenda item approves a minor subdivision application for a lot just west of Smith’s grocery store on West Main Street.

A memo from staff said the intention of the petition is “for uses for the church located immediately to the west.”

The council will also consider approving Tourism Asset Development grant awards on Tuesday.

There is one third-reading ordinance on the agenda rezoning a lot at 105 West Adams Avenue from C-1 (commercial) to R-2 (residential).

Staff said the applicant would like to use the property for residential purposes, and the rezone is necessary in order to to approve a concurrent replat application for the area, which is also on Tuesday’s agenda.

Other items on the agenda include:

• an engineering services agreement for the West Main Waterline Project
• a resolution adoption fiscal year 2027 council goals
• a resolution approving a proposition for an optional three-quarter percent sales and use tax
• a memorandum of agreement for distribution of the optional three-quarter percent sales and use tax funds, if local voters approve the proposition

An executive session will be held if needed before adjournment.

Tuesday’s meeting will be preceded by a 6:45 p.m. Finance Committee meeting in the same location.

Both meetings are open to the public for in-person attendance and will be streamed live on the city’s YouTube channel, where past meeting recordings are stored.
