Riverton City Council to consider resolution supporting Wind River Job Corps during regular meeting Tuesday

(Riverton, WY) – The Riverton City Council will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, in the Council Chambers at Riverton City Hall, 816 N. Federal Blvd.

The agenda includes a resolution supporting the Wind River Job Corps.

The resolution says the city “affirms the Wind River Job Corps Center’s continued importance as a cornerstone of economic development, educational opportunity, and community advancement in Fremont County and beyond.”

“Since the Wind River Job Corps Center opened in Riverton in 2015, it has become an essential part of our community, providing high-quality career and technical education that prepares young adults for meaningful employment and long-term self-sufficiency,” the resolution states. “Fremont County and the Wind River Indian Reservation face persistent challenges related to unemployment and economic opportunity, and the Wind River Job Corps Center plays a vital role in addressing these needs by offering practical, hands-on training in in-demand fields such as healthcare, construction, and information technology.”

The council will consider another resolution Tuesday regarding a State Revolving Loan Fund application for a hydrovac truck.

A public hearing will be held before the council considers a Charter franchise agreement ordinance on first reading.

• The council will also consider approving:
• a consultant agreement for an engineering analysis on the West Main water transmission line
• a bid award for the rehabilitation of the airport terminal parking lot

An executive session will be held if needed.

Tuesday’s meeting will be preceded by a 6:45 p.m. Finance Committee meeting in the same location.

Both meetings are open to the public for in-person attendance and will be streamed live on the city’s YouTube channel, where past meeting recordings are stored.
