(Riverton, WY) – The Riverton City Council will hold a regular meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, in the Council Chambers at Riverton City Hall, 816 N. Federal Blvd.
The agenda includes four proclamations, for Public Works Week, Building Safety Month, Nurses Week, and Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women’s Awareness Day.
The council will also consider a resolution supporting the formation of the Riverton Youth Council.
Airport Cafe
Another agenda item asks the council to approve the termination of the Secure Room Vendor Lease for Rise and Shine Airport Cafe at Central Wyoming Regional Airport.
The council approved the secure room vendor lease last year at the request of Airport Cafe owner Teresa Cross, who wanted to expand her operation to start selling hot items in the secure holding area before commercial flights, according to a memo from staff.
“This venture was never successful due to the limited amount of space available (16 square foot hallway),” the staff memo states. “With the increased amount of passenger traffic that was experienced in 2024 and 2025, there was simply no room to operate the counter. The area was full of travelers making movement in this area almost impossible. If the secure area has a further expansion in the future, the Cafe would like to reconsider this area for a lease at that time.”
The council will also consider a request from Cross to transfer her main Airport Cafe lease to her daughter-in-law, Dr. Tara Adkison.
“Due to medical and health complications, Teresa is no longer able to physically handle the day to day activities of managing the restaurant,” staff said. “Her son John and his wife, Dr. Tara Adkison, have been involved with the management and operation of the Cafe since its inception and the (transfer) will have no noticeable effect on day to day operations.”
Other items on Tuesday’s agenda include:
- non-operational retail liquor license extension
- termination of easement for storm sewer
- Wyoming Retirement Systems presentation
An executive session on personnel will be held before adjournment.
Tuesday’s meeting will be preceded by a 6:45 p.m. Finance Committee meeting in the same location.
Both meetings are open to the public for in-person attendance and will be streamed live on the city’s YouTube channel, where past meeting recordings are stored.
