(Riverton, WY) – The Riverton City Council will hold a regular meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, in the Council Chambers at Riverton City Hall, 816 N. Federal Blvd.
The agenda for the meeting includes an introduction and oath of office for a new patrol officer and community service officer.
As part of the consent agenda for the evening, the council will consider approving the Rein Park Addition Replat No. 4.
Wyoming Community Gas
After a recognition for outgoing council members, the city council will designate its distribution of community project funds from the Wyoming Community Grant program.
The city will receive $14,490 in community project funds from Wyoming Community Gas as part of the grant program, and the money must be designated by the end of the year, staff said in a memo to the council.
In previous years, the city has used the money for beautification and park improvements, the memo states.
This year, the options Mayor Tim Hancock and staff have discussed for use of the community project funds include improvements to the downtown parking lot; park improvements associated with lighting, equipment, facilities, or shelters; cases for cultural and historical displays in the atrium at City Hall; landscape improvements to the City Hall parking lot; and improvements to the Riverwalk Trail, according to the memo.
“The City Council may designate funds related to any of the above referenced items,” the memo states. “It may also propose and discuss other potential uses of the community project funds made available from Wyoming Community Gas.”
Recreation facility study
The council will also consider approving a $59,200 contract fee with Ballard*King and Associates to perform a feasibility study for a multisport recreation facility in Riverton.
Staff said the market analysis and financial and operational feasibility study will include a project overview/kick-off; a market analysis; public input; programming; concept layout and site needs; a capital construction cost estimate; a financial and operational analysis; economic impact projections; and a final report and public presentation.
Costs related to study will be supported by a $20,000 USDA grant and $40,000 in city funds budgeted in fiscal year 2025, according to a memo from staff.
Other items on Tuesday’s agenda include:
- an annual report from the PAWS for Life Animal Shelter
- a service update from the Wind River Transportation Authority
- a tree inventory report presentation from the Riverton Tree Board
- an illegal substances presentation from Ashley Schluck
- an executive session if needed
The meeting will be preceded by a 6:45 p.m. Finance Committee meeting in the same location.
Both meetings are open to the public for in-person attendance and will be streamed live on the city’s YouTube channel, where past meeting recordings are stored.
