(Riverton, WY) – The Riverton City Council will hold a work session meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, in the Council Chambers at Riverton City Hall, 816 N. Federal Blvd.
The agenda for the meeting includes a discussion related to the establishment of a youth city council.
Staff noted that the council set a goal for the coming fiscal year to “develop and implement a youth city council program.”
“Several Riverton youth have been working with a councilmember to frame the parameters of a youth city council,” staff said in a memo to the council. “They have drafted a program proposal and sample resolution for the city council to consider.”
The council will also hear 14 proposals for community service contracts on Tuesday, from:

- Foundations for Nations
- Injury Prevention Resources
- Juvenile Justice Systems of Fremont County
- PAWS for Life Animal League
- R Recreation
- Riverton Chamber of Commerce
- Riverton Help Center
- Riverton Volunteer Fire Department
- Volunteers of America Northern Rockies
- Wind River Prosperity
- Wind River Transportation Authority
The 14 proposals represent a total combined funding request of $517,268, staff said in a memo, noting that, last year, the council approved $240,000 in community service contracts for eight local entities.
Funding for the community service contracts comes from a direct distribution Riverton receives from the State of Wyoming each year, staff said.
Tuesday’s work session is open to the public for in-person attendance and will be streamed live on the city’s YouTube channel, where past meeting recordings are stored.
