A group of dedicated local volunteers have joined together again this year to organize the Riverton Community Thanksgiving Meal project, with the goal “to ensure no one in the community misses out on a Thanksgiving meal or the opportunity to celebrate with neighbors and friends.”
The annual event is organized in three parts: a Thanksgiving food box giveaway, hot meal deliveries, and a community Thanksgiving meal.
Food box giveaway
The Riverton High School Key Club will host their annual Thanksgiving food box distribution beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at RHS, 2001 West Sunset Drive.
The drive-thru-style pickup takes place on a first-come, first-served basis, offering one box per vehicle.
Each box includes ingredients for a Thanksgiving meal, supporting families who are able to prepare a meal in their own home.
Hot meal deliveries
For those who may be unable to cook or attend the community meal, volunteers are providing hot, prepared Thanksgiving meals delivered directly to homes between 10 a.m. and noon on Thanksgiving morning.
The meal includes all the traditional favorites, from turkey and mashed potatoes to pumpkin pie.
This no-questions-asked service is particularly for seniors, those with mobility challenges, and anyone who may benefit from a warm meal at home.

Community Thanksgiving
The highlight of the project, the community Thanksgiving meal, is open to all who want to celebrate together.
This event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day at the Fremont Center in Riverton, 1010 Fairgrounds Drive, featuring a full Thanksgiving spread.
RSVP is not required, though it helps organizers with planning and is highly encouraged.
RSVP can be done through the Riverton Senior Center or online here.
The event includes entertainment and activities for all ages, and attendees may bring a side dish to share if they wish, though it is entirely optional.

The Riverton Community Thanksgiving Meal project relies on local support, so volunteers are welcome, and donations are greatly appreciated.
