Students from across Riverton are participating in “Kindness Week.”
Children and staff alike are being asked to perform random acts of kindness this week and to acknowledge others who are kind.
At Aspen Early Learning Center, students are creating a paper chain, each link written on with an act of kindness performed by someone in the school. As of Wednesday morning, the chain had nearly 700 acts of kindness written on it.
Aspen students have also observed a new theme each day, encouraging students to pay tribute to police officers, military members, firefighters, and those in the medical field this week. On Friday, kids are encouraged to wear their teacher’s favorite color.
Students had the chance to chat more about the week at an assembly. They were filmed below unanimously saying, “kindness.”
At Ashgrove Elementary School, students, families, and staff are all on the lookout for acts of kindness. If one is observed, they can write it on a paper heart, that is then stapled to a bulletin board. The hope is to fill the entire board with kindness.
At Willow Creek Elementary, there is a kindness tree. The tree has long branches strung from it with leaves. On each of the leaves, are written acts of kindness.
Willow Creek estimated that nearly 500 acts of kindness had been observed so far, impacting the lives of over 800 people. On Tuesday night, Riverton Mayor Rich Gard made a kindness week proclamation at the school.
