The Riverton Fire Department were dispatched to two separate fire calls Saturday afternoon.
The first of which was a grass fire directly behind the U.S. Post Office Annex building and Spur Steakhouse, south of U.S. 26 and between the area of South Major Ave and Fairview Dr. While close to homes, there were no reports of structure damage.
The second fire broke out in the 7000 block of Riverview Road, west of Riverton. What began as a grass fire spread to a house, other various structures, large trees, and several automobiles. Firefighters from Morton-Kinnear, EMS and Fremont County Sheriff’s also responded
Details for both fires are limited at this point. We do not have information on causes or the extent of damage to the Riverview fire. We hope to follow up with more information by Monday morning.
