(Riverton, WY) – After securing a Thursday win against Evanston, Aziz Waheed’s soccer program is off to a 3-0 start this season.
Expectations are lofty this year for the Riverton girls, currently ranked third in the WyoPreps.com Coaches & Media 4A Soccer Rankings.
Riverton shuts out Evanston Thursday
In the third game of the young season, the Riverton ladies took care of Evanston at home 4-0. Senior goalkeeper Braedyn Mosbrucker recorded the shutout in net. Future Laramie County Community College soccer player, Cilia Mejorado recorded a hat trick, scoring 3 times. Sophomore Karsyn Vosika recorded Riverton’s other goal. Mya Noseep distributed 2 assists, Kimber Mathill and Vosika each had one assist.
Lady Wolverines beat Green River on the Road
Last Saturday was the first road trip of the season for the Riverton girls. RHS took down Green River 5-1. Cilia Mejorado scored twice, Karsyn Vosika, Taryn Weber and Halle Saltsgaver each had a goal. Kimber Mathill recorded a pair of assists, Mya Noseep and Mejorado also claimed assists. Coach Waheed elaborated to County 10 after the game that the team’s defensive effort was top notch, led by Dakayda Yarber, Aspen Gordon, Timbree Mathill, Kaylor McConnaughey and Piper Anderson.
Riverton downs Rock Springs in first game of season
Riverton opened the season defeating Rock Springs at home 6-4 on Friday, March 20th. Karsyn Vosika had a tremendous offensive effort, notching four goals. Timbree Mathill added two scores. Cilia Mejorado dished a hat trick’s worth of assists, Kimber Mathill, Braedyn Mosbrucker and Mya Noseep each added an assist to start the season.
Riverton varsity soccer hosts Jackson on April 9th and Star Valley on April 11th.
