(Riverton, WY) – A seven-run second inning was the difference as Riverton handled Rawlins 8-2 Tuesday evening at the Babe Ruth Field on Major Avenue. Riverton rallied in the second on six hits and four walks. The highlight came with Zade White Eagle opening and closing the inning with a pair of doubles. Aiden Lebrun added another double in the second, and Lawson Gavin, Collin Thompson, and Greyson Clark all hit singles.
The game opened with Rawlins taking a 1-0 lead after Riverton pitcher Lebrun walked him. Westby scored on a single by Caleb Gandarilla, but that was it for the team from Carbon County.
Lebrun struck out Jayden Arce, then fielded a bunt by James Fletcher for the second out. The final out of the inning came as Trace Hopkins hit a ground ball to first baseman Kingston Limpy, who fielded it cleanly and beat the runner to the first base bag.
Rawlins scored a final run on a passed ball in the top of the fifth inning.
Lebrun went the distance for Riverton, tallying five strikeouts, only a pair of walks, and yielding just four hits.
Riverton jumped on Rawlins starting pitcher Caleb Gandarilla for seven hits and five walks. James Fletcher came on in relief and shut down the Riverton offense over the final three innings with eight strikeouts and only one hit.
