The mid-point of the fall High School Rodeo season comes to Riverton on Saturday September 14 and concludes on Sunday.
Previous rodeos were held at Big Piney and Laramie, with Wheatland and Rawlins following the Riverton rodeo.
Fremont County athletes are faring well in the rodeo competition at both the high school and junior high levels paced by Landon Gould of Riverton who is second in steer wrestling and Stetson St. Clair of Crowheart who is currently third in bull riding.
St. Clair qualified for the National Finals in junior high three times riding bulls.
Shoshoni’s Irelynn Campbell is 12th in barrel racing and 8th in pole bending, Alexis Winfield of Riverton is 5th in breakaway roping and Aisylnn Vroman of Riverton is 9th in pole bending.
In the girls’ all-around Campbel is 17th, Winfield 20th, Madalyn Moorman of Pavillion is 21st,Vroman 26th and Emma Martin of lander 39th.
In the boys’ all-around Gould is currently 12th and St. Clair 17th.
Vroman qualified for the national finals in barrels and her younger brother Eion Murray qualified his second time in bull riding. Murray finished fifth last year as a fifth grader.
Standings after last weekend’s rodeo in Laramie for junior high has Kason McConnaughy first in breakaway roping and third in goat tying.
Brothers Gavin and Kreece Burgess are tied for first place in tie down calf roping.
In the all-around McConnaughy is tied for first place with Hoyt Peil of Thermopolis at 41 points.
Ryker Krimm is 25th in the all-around with seven points.
Murray is tied for first place in bull-riding with Kasen Asay of Powell and is currently 8th in goat tying.
In Team roping the team of McConnaughey and Hoyt Peil of Thermopolis is fourth while the Burgess brothers are fifth.
Krimm is fifth in tie down calf roping with seven points.
