Chad Franke of Lander was re-elected as President of Rocky Mountain Farmers Union (RMFU) at the farm organization’s annual meeting. Jenna Anderson of Riverton was elected to the RMFU Board of Directors.
Farmers Union is a general farm organization with members in Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming. As a grassroots advocacy organization, Farmers Union focuses on providing a strong voice for farm and ranch families and rural communities.
Franke grew up on a five-generation family farm northeast of Akron, Colorado. He earned a degree in mechanical engineering from Colorado State University. On his farm near Roggen, Colorado he raised Berkshire pigs for Whole Foods, along with direct market beef and hay. He subsequently built and operated a feed mill selling feed to small producers. After his children left for college, he sold the farm and moved to Lander. In addition to being president of RMFU he is on the board of National Farmers Union (NFU) and is a member of the NFU Executive Committee.
Anderson farms 650 acres of corn, barley, alfalfa, and sugar beets in the Wind River Valley west of Riverton. She is a 4th-generation agriculturist. She grew up on a cattle ranch in Montana. She earned a degree in equine management and a teaching degree in secondary education. She taught for many years. Anderson is a past president of Fremont County Cattlewomen. She was on the Fremont County 4-H Council for two terms and was a certified 4-H leader. She has been a member of the local FFA alumni group for eight years.
