A 41-year-old Riverton man, Brian Shoup, is facing one count of delivery of methamphetamine.
The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation began looking into claims that Shoup may have been distributing the drug in late 2017. After an investigation that lasted nearly 16 months, Shoup was arrested.
Between December 2017 and late 2018 court documents show that Shoup was in contact with, arranged to sell, and did sell methamphetamine to a confidential information with DCI.
Documents were not specific as to when or how he was arrested.
A records check revealed Shoup was convicted with a charge of, “Manufacture Schedule 1/2 Controlled Substance” in 2016 in Larimer County, Colorado District Court.
If convicted of methamphetamine delivery, an enhanced penalty could be added because this is his second drug-related offense.
The maximum penalty for, “Delivery of Methamphetamine – Second or Subsequent Offense” is 40 years of imprisonment and a fine of up to $50,000.
On May 23rd Shoup waived his preliminary hearing. The matter will be transferred to District Court at a later date for further proceedings and arraignment.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
