All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
(Riverton, WY) – 58-year-old Riverton man Robert Thornley faces a number of charges after reportedly fleeing from officers when he failed to yield during an attempted traffic stop on Airport Road in Riverton Thursday night, January 8, according to the Riverton Police Department (RPD) call log issued on January 9.
At around 11:05 PM, an RPD officer attempted to stop Thornely because his truck did not have license plates, the call log narrative states. He then failed to yield and fled westbound out of town with an RPD officer and a Fremont County Sheriff’s Office deputy in pursuit.
The log narrative goes on to state that Thornley’s truck missed a curve in the Buckhorn Flats area during the pursuit, and he drove through a fence and into a field.
Thornley then reportedly abandoned the truck and fled on foot.
After a foot chase, officers apprehended Thornley, who was ultimately charged with Vandalism/Destruction of Property, Driving While Under Suspension, Attempting to Elude, DWUI, and Resisting Arrest.
Thornley also had a Fremont County arrest warrant for Contempt of Court.
