A 25-year-old Riverton man was sentenced to 17 and a half years in federal prison after an investigation into the distribution of child sexual abuse materials on the social media platforms MediaLab and Kik.
Luke Everett David “is accountable for at least 175 videos and 69 images of child pornography, which included distribution of a new child pornography image and receipt of artificial intelligence-morphed child pornography images,” United States Attorney for the District of Wyoming Darin Smith announced in a release on Monday.
U.S. District Court Judge Scott W. Skavdahl imposed the sentence on Dec. 4 in Casper.
According to court documents, the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received eight CyberTip reports between December 2024 and March 2025. The reports had been submitted to NCMEC from MediaLab/Kik and appeared to be related through common email addresses tied to David. Investigators obtained search warrants for the defendant’s accounts and devices and conducted a full digital forensic analysis.
David will have 10 years of supervised release following his sentence. Restitution for the victims remains open and will be determined in the next 90 days.
The DCI ICAC Task Force investigated the crime and Assistant U.S. Attorney Mackenzie R. Morrison prosecuted the case. This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice.
