(Riverton, WY) – Brett Jones, a Riverton native and senior at the University of Wyoming, recently used his membership on the school’s Mortar Board honor society to recognize two influential individuals who helped shape his college experience – one in the college classroom and one behind the scenes.
As part of the Mortar Board’s annual “Top Prof” and “Tip of the Cap” awards, Jones selected Koen Groot, a UW faculty member in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, as a “Top Prof” for going above and beyond traditional teaching duties to support and inspire students.
Jones also honored Julie Sossaman of the Washakie Dining Center with a “Tip of the Cap” award, recognizing the often-unsung contributions of UW staff members who make a lasting difference in students’ daily lives.
Mortar Board is a national honor society that recognizes college seniors for their excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service.
