(Riverton, WY) – The Riverton City Council voted to participate in another national opioid settlement agreement this month.
The Six Remnant Defendants Settlement Agreement, dated Feb. 23, involves six regional pharmaceutical distributors and dispensers that were not part of the initial major national opioid settlements, city staff said in an April 19 memo.
“The Six Remnant Defendants Settlement will result in an estimated combined $97.625 million payment in cash for purposes of abating the opioid epidemic, (and) the City of Riverton is eligible for 0.0023671555 percent of the total settlement,” the memo states. “This equates to a one-time payment of $2,310.94.”
To date, the City of Riverton has received $246,312.62 from various opioid settlement agreements, with about $500,000 in additional payments expected to come in over the next 15 years, staff said.
