(Riverton, WY) – Shortly after 11:00 p.m., Riverton officers responded to a reported attempted burglary where shots were reported to have been fired in the 900 block of E. Park Ave, according to an early Saturday morning release from the Riverton Police Department (RPD).
A caller reported a struggle between a possible intruder and the homeowner.
In addition to RPD, the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, Wyoming Highway Patrol, and the Shoshoni Police Department responded to the call.
Officers located a man in his 20s suffering from an apparent gunshot wound near the home. A person at the scene reported seeing the man attempting to break into the home.
The apparent intruder was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
The homeowner is cooperating with the investigation.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident.
