(Riverton, WY) – The City of Riverton proudly announces the promotion of several members of the Police Department. This past week, Sergeants Amy Fyler and Eric Smits were promoted to Police Lieutenants. Detective “Pete” McCall was promoted to Sergeant.
Lieutenant Fyler began working at the City of Riverton as an Animal Control Officer in 2011. In 2012, she transitioned to a Patrol Officer and graduated from the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy in 2013. Amy was promoted to Patrol Sergeant in November of 2015.
During her time with the Riverton Police Department, Amy has served as a Field Training Officer and a Task Force Officer with the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, been a member of the Special Response Team, the Mounted Patrol Unit, and a Child Forensic Interviewer.
Fyler will assume command of the patrol division.
Lieutenant Smits began his law enforcement career with the Riverton Police Department in October 2011. Throughout his service as a police officer, he served as a Field Training Officer. In 2015, he was promoted to Sergeant and assigned to the Patrol Division. In 2017, he was reassigned to the Detective Division, where he served until his promotion.
Smits is a state-certified instructor in emergency vehicle operations, crime scene technician procedures, and patrol investigations.
Smits will assume command over police administration services, including victim-witness, detectives, and animal control.
“Pete” McCall joined the Riverton Police Department in 2010. He has served several years working patrol and the past few years as a Detective. He is the Assistant Team Leader for the Special Response Team and is constantly stepping up to protect his community. His work even extended to federal partnerships with the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Safe Trails Task Force.
Now a Detective Sergeant, he shares his years of experience by instructing fellow officers in firearms and tactical response. When he isn’t in uniform, Sergeant McCall can usually be found in the Wyoming wilderness, hunting or fishing with his family.
The Riverton Police Department Supervisory and Command staff, consisting of the Chief, Lieutenants, and Sergeants combined, have an average of 21 years in law enforcement. This extensive experience will lead the City of Riverton in a positive direction as we continue our efforts to reduce crime in our community.
