(Riverton, WY) – The Fremont County School District 25 (Riverton) Board of Trustees will hold a regular meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, in the Board Chambers at 121 North Fifth Street West.
The agenda includes a Frontier Academy graduation for Aurora Gracia Alcaraz.
The board will also hear from Haylee Lavoie, Riverton Middle School FFA Advisor and FFA Horse Judging Team, and speak with Dr. Boyd Brown about state budgeting.
Willow Creek Elementary Principal Jeremy Hill is scheduled to give a presentation including information about 2024 WyTOPP achievement data, and there will be time for reports from board members, staff, visitors and delegations.
Action items
Under action items, the board will consider an administrative recommendation to approve additional coaching staff.
The agenda says Reggie Miller requested the board approve the hiring of the two coaching positions for the girls wrestling program.
“The board previously approved the addition of girls wrestling as a part of the boys wrestling program, but with the girls wrestling expanding across the state and events now being hosted separately, it necessitates the division of the programs,” the agenda states. “To fulfill this need, a Girls Wrestling Coach at $8,118 and an Assistant Coach at $6,642 would need to be hired.”
The board will also consider an administrative recommendation to approve a change order with Perfect Power Electric Inc. for the reduced amount of $9,046 for the Career Center Lighting Replacement Project.
“The change order is a credit received due to a Rocky Mountain Power Incentive,” the agenda states.
The board will consider another administrative recommendation to accept the Northern Arapaho Tribe’s Johnson O’Malley grant allocation in the amount of $21,891.40.
“The funds will be used to support the JOM Parent Committee’s supplemental Native American Education Program,” the agenda states.
There are two other action items on the agenda:
-consider an administrative recommendation to approve the updated salary schedule for the 2024-2025 school year
-consider an administrative recommendation to accept the resignation of RMS eighth grade head football coach Matthew Coughanour
Under information items, the district enrollment report indicates enrollment is down by about 100 students this year (2,373 enrollments) compared to the same time last year (2,470 enrollments).
The board will discuss accountability data and curriculum before adjourning.
Tuesday’s meeting is open to the public for in-person attendance and will be streamed live on the district’s YouTube channel, where past meeting recordings are stored.
