Riverton School Board to discuss Tonkin Memorial Monument Project during regular meeting Tuesday

(Riverton, WY) – The Fremont County School District 25 (Riverton) Board of Trustees will hold a regular meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, in the Board Chambers at 121 North Fifth Street West.

The agenda includes a Frontier Academy graduation for Kylee Ann Blumenshine, Cheyenne Elizabeth Haviland, Joaquin Little Red Lonebear Janis, John Eben Magnan, Preslee Lynn Mills, and Talon Kyzar-Scott Prestwich (not present).

The board will also hear from Andy Peeks, Dan Foster and Nathan Gillette – Riverton High School band and choir students and Riverton Middle School band students – and review data with Boost teachers.

There are two out-of-state travel requests on the agenda:

• for the RHS band and choir to travel to Spokane, Washington, in February for the 2025 Northwest Regional National Association for Music Education
• for the RMS eighth grade band students to travel to Layton, Utah, in May for Music in the Parks

The board will also consider administrative recommendations to:

• approve the Boost handbook
• approve new course proposals (Digital Photography/Graphic Design 1 & 2 and Driver’s Education)
• accept the $24,000 Fremont County BOCES Work Based Learning Grant for the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 school years to pay high school student apprentices in the Technology Department
• acknowledge home schooling requests
• adopt the amended 2025-2026 school calendar
• award a $42,320 contract to Nelson Architects for the Central Office Design and Re-Roof Project
• accept resignations from Jackson Elementary Second Grade Teacher Tiana Payne and RHS Boys’ Head Soccer Coach Brady Samuelson

Information items on the agenda include:

• a donation of $1,000 received from an anonymous source for the Riverton Aquatic Center
• policy revisions regarding travel and expenditure reimbursement, student admissions, and bloodborne pathogen exposure control
• new policies regarding data privacy and security and user data retention
• abrogate policy regarding student responsible use guidelines for technology
• auditorium tour dates
• classified staff changes
• enrollment

The board will also discuss the Tonkin Memorial Monument Project before convening into an executive session for superintendent evaluation and personnel.

Tuesday’s meeting is open to the public for in-person attendance and will be streamed live on the district’s YouTube channel, where past meeting recordings are stored.
