Riverton School Board to hold special celebration honoring retirees during regular meeting Tuesday

(Riverton, WY) – The Fremont County School District 25 Board of Trustees will hold a regular meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, in the Board Chambers at 121 North Fifth Street West in Riverton.

The agenda includes a special celebration honoring retirees.

The board will also hold a public forum on proposed 2026-2027 school calendar options.

Under action items, the board will consider approving out-of-state travel requests for Riverton High School SkillsUSA students to travel to Atlanta, Georgia, in June for the National Leadership and Skills Conference, and for RHS Key Club students to travel to Orlando, Florida, in July for the Key Club International Convention.

The board will also consider approving the 2025-2026 school calendar for Frontier Academy.

Other action items on the agenda include:

• an amended policy regarding early notification of intent to resign or retire
• the new science curriculum for grades three through five for the 2025-2026 school year
• new course proposals for Frontier Academy students to be concurrently enrolled with the Wind River Job Corps (heavy truck driving)
• new course proposals for RHS (musical theater and dramatic literature)

The board will also consider offering contracts to:

• Olivia Axthelm, District Spanish Interpreter/Translator  
• Shandee Andrade, RHS ELA Teacher
• Treyton Forsman, RHS Social Studies Teacher 
• Hannah Bunker, Frontier Academy Social Studies Teacher    
• Taylor Thoman, RHS Welding Teacher
• Cassie Murray, Rendezvous Social Worker
• Holly Weston, Frontier Academy Counselor
• Robyn Johnson, Willow Creek Elementary Principal

Under information items, the board will review the “official tentative budget” for fiscal year 2026.

The board will also review new and amended policies, including:

• New Policy 4116 “Non–School Sponsored Student Travel”
• Amended Policy 2065 “Procurement Policy and Procedures”
• Amended Policy 4085 “Homeschooling”
• Amended Policy 4085-R “Homeschooling”
• New Policy 3220 “Sex Designated Facilities”

Other information items on the agenda include:

• notifications of habitually truant, willfully absent, and 10-day drop students
• donation of $1,250 from High Plains Power for the Aspen Elementary Food Pantry
• certified staff changes, including transfers, retirements, and resignations
• enrollment

Tuesday’s meeting is open to the public for in-person attendance and will be streamed live on the district’s YouTube channel, where past meeting recordings are also stored.
