(Riverton, WY) – The Fremont County School District 25 Board of Trustees will hold a regular meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, in the Board Chambers at 121 North Fifth Street West in Riverton.
The agenda for the meeting includes a recognition for Alexis Taylor, who earned the Wyoming High School Activities Association Good Sportsmanship Award “for her exemplary conduct and good sportsmanship shown during a volleyball contest held on Sept. 29, 2025,” according to a letter from WHSAA Associate Commissioner Chad Whitworth.
The Good Sportsmanship Award report that was attached to Whitworth’s letter indicates that, during the Sept. 29 contest between Star Valley and Riverton, Taylor and Star Valley player Ruby Hill “were such great examples of good sports on the court.”
“They were always encouraging and cheering for their team members,” the report submitted by game officials Pauline Fackrell and Bill Thompson of Lyman states. “I wasn’t surprised to look at the program after the game to find that Alexis was a senior. She was for sure a leader on the court. She led her younger team members with such a great spirit.”
The board will also hear from Food Service Department Supervisor Ginny Hugus on Tuesday and discuss the Tonkin Monument Committee.
Action items on the agenda include:
- Consider an administrative recommendation to accept a $99,000 grant from the Wyoming Office of Homeland Security for the 2025-2026 school year
- Consider an administrative recommendation to declare items as surplus, including a 1999 Chevy Utility Van that was used for district warehouse deliveries and will be advertised for sale through auction, and a 2012 kiln from Rendezvous Elementary School that will be donated to the Riverton Boys and Girls Club
- Consider an administrative recommendation to opt out of administering the Group Long Term Care plan through Unum, following Unum’s decision to discontinue accepting new enrollments into this policy effective Feb. 1, 2026
Staff said 13 employees are currently enrolled in the Group Long Term Care plan, and if the district opts out of administering the plan, billing responsibility will be transferred directly to those 13 people, allowing them to maintain their coverage.
Tuesday’s meeting is open to the public for in-person attendance and will be streamed live on the district’s YouTube channel, where past meeting recordings are also stored.
