Western Heritage Christian Academy students have returned from their trip to Washington D.C. in May, where they toured the Capitol building, the White House, and multiple museums.
Students in grades 6-12 left Riverton on April 29th to head to the nation’s capital, where they had a guided tour of the capitol building on day one. The students met with Senator John Barrasso and his staff, who gave them the tour.
“I think that was a favorite for most of the students,” said Head Teacher Brandi Maxson. “We learned a lot there.”
In addition to visiting the Museum of the Bible, students visited the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (which Maxson described as “surreal”) and the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum. The highlight of the trip that most students enjoyed was renting scooters and seeing the National Mall that way.
“We ended in the dark,” said Maxson, “and seeing some of the monuments in the dark was pretty amazing.”
Students who took this school trip are already planning on where they will go next. Next year, students will be studying U.S. Government, with a possible trip to Cheyenne during the legislative session.
