(Riverton, WY) – The Riverton High School girls swim & dive team showed grit and determination this weekend, pulling off a 4th place finish in the 4A West Conference Championships with 166 points. With multiple best times, including some significant time drops, the girls pulled together to bring home multiple podium and consolation finals races, along with a new state qualifier, Addison Peart, in the Girls 1 meter Diving with a score of 280.50. This brings the Riverton Girls swim team state qualifiers up to six so far. Previously qualified are Chloe Smith (jr), Prestley Barta (jr), Lily Ormond (fr), Luci Pfisterer (fr), and Leah Edwards (fr).
On Friday, swimmers competed for the top 12 spots to move on to finals (top 6 places) or consolation finals (places 7-12) on Saturday. Swimmers could move up or down only within their respective heats on Saturday, with alternates being 13th and 14th places.
Riverton had some excellent relays and teamwork shown throughout both days of the meet. In the 200 Medley Relay Kinley Peart (fr), Prestley Barta (jr), Yeva Montano (sr), and Luci Pfisterer (fr) secured a 5th place finish overall in finals with a time of 2:12.32. Barely out touching Evanston during finals by .09 seconds, the 200 Free Relay consisting of Prestley Barta (jr), Claire Houtman (fr), Chloe Smith (jr), and Lily Ormond (fr) ended 4th with a time of 1:50.90. In the last relay of the meet, the 400 Free Relay, Chloe Smith (jr), Claire Houtman (fr), Lily Ormond (fr), and Luci Pfisterer (fr) swam a solid race in finals and finished 3rd with a time of 4:04.71.
