(Riverton, WY) – Riverton High School volleyball welcomed Star Valley to Wolverine Gymnasium Saturday for their final home game of the season.
The Wolverines lone senior, Alexis (Lexi) Taylor was recognized for not only her great year, but great RHS career in the sport. Lexi recorded over 1,300 kills, 900 digs, 200 aces and 125 blocks on the volleyball court. She’s committed to South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, in Rapid City, to play Division 2 college volleyball next year.
RHS’ Tylynn McDonald was also recognized as part of Senior Day. McDonald is the volleyball manager, she’s also a very accomplished golfer and manager for the girls basketball team. McDonald plans to attend the University of Wyoming after graduation and study international studies as well as business administration.
Taylor and her teammates rallied from behind sending RHS students and supporters into a frenzy Saturday afternoon. Star Valley led 2-1 after 3 sets, the Braves winning 25-14, 22-25, and 25-19. But a 4th set comeback gave Riverton a 25-23 win and forced a deciding 5th set, in which Riverton largely dominated, ultimately winning 15-10.
Riverton improved to 7-21 overall and Star Valley dropped to 16-14 Saturday.
Riverton volleyball goes to regionals at Natrona County High School October 31st and November 1st with the goal of qualifying for the state tournament in mind. State is November 6-8 in Casper.
