(Riverton, Wyo.) – Riverton has a new Mayor as of Wednesday night when Richard Gard took the oath of office from City Clerk Kristen Watson and took his seat on the Dias. Also taking the oath of office was new council member Karla Borders and re-elected council members Mike Bailey and Kyle Larson.
When calling his portion of the meeting to order, Mayor Gard told a story of the gavel that he will use for his term in office. He said it was made by his grandfather several generations ago. Gard quipped that he didn’t know if he’d ever be able to use it, then he gaveled his first meeting to order with the family heirloom.
