(Riverton, WY) – Riverton High School senior and multi-sport athlete, Ryan Cox will receive the Homer Scott “Outstanding Citizen Award” at this year’s Shrine Bowl football all-star game in Casper.
The prestigious award celebrates the legacy of Homer “Scotty” Scott Jr., a longtime resident of Sheridan who passed away in October 2023. Scott was known for his support of high school football and his unwavering commitment to community service.
Each season, local football coaches are encouraged to submit a nomination for a student-athlete who has committed themselves to community service, volunteerism and overall good character within the school and community. One athlete from each football class receives the award, which includes a $500 scholarship and a $500 gift to donate to a local organization that holds personal significance to them.
Ryan will represent RHS and receive the award at the Shrine Bowl game in Casper June 14th at Natrona County High School’s Cheney Alumni Field.
Other Wyoming winners include Masen Wekele from Rock Springs High School, Ash Doke of Big Horn High School, William Knowlton from Southeast High School and Bridger Cozzens from Little Snake River High School.
In 2024, Fremont County had two Homer Scott Award winners, Riverton’s Ty Sheets and Dubois’ Wyatt Trembly.
