Rock Springs Police officers responded to a gas station last Wednesday afternoon after they received calls about a man who was swinging a hatchet and smashing car windows with it.
A 26-year-old man was still holding the hatchet when police arrived and failed to obey officers commands. According to the Rocket Miner, he was shot once with a handgun and shot with beanbag ammunition.
His name and condition are yet to be released. The officers involved have been put on administrative leave, no officers were injured.
The Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation has taken over the case.
