Riverton is preparing to host one of Wyoming’s largest sporting events of the year—the Ron Thon Invitational—January 29–31 at Riverton High School and Riverton Middle School. Due to the size of the tournament, the City of Lander would like to inform residents and businesses that athlete, school bus, and spectator overflow may extend into Lander throughout the weekend.
The Ron Thon Invitational will bring more than 1,000 wrestlers from 45 schools across Wyoming. As a result, community members should anticipate increased traffic and higher-than-usual activity at local hotels, restaurants, and businesses. Residents are invited to attend this highly regarded tournament to support the Lander Tigers. The Ron Thon Invitational is widely considered one of the most competitive wrestling events in the state, often rivaling the state wrestling tournament in scale and intensity.
Women’s competition begins Thursday, January 29, at noon and continues Friday, January 30, starting at 9:30 a.m. Men’s competition begins Friday, January 30, at 10 a.m., with wrestling resuming Saturday, January 31, at 9 a.m.
Admission prices are $15 per day for adults and $10 per day for students. Three-day passes are available for $40 for adults and $25 for students. Children under school age are admitted free.
Please note that payment is accepted by cash or check only; no digital ticketing will be available.
With the anticipated influx of athletes, families, and spectators, local businesses should be prepared for increased customer traffic throughout the weekend. The City encourages residents and business owners alike to extend a warm welcome to visitors and help showcase Lander’s hospitality, community spirit, and the many qualities that make Lander a great place to live and visit.
