UPDATE: Moments after RPD shared their initial post, they have shared another update stating that the reported threat was a hoax:
“There has been a recent trend of threats to certain businesses across the US. Today, a local business in Riverton received a similar threat. First responders have determined the threat to a business near Sunset and N. Federal to be a Hoax. As a precaution, the business was temporarily evacuated until the investigation was completed.“
(Riverton, WY) – The Riverton Police Department (RPD) is currently investigating a reported threat at the Walgreens in Riverton, located at 845 N. Federal Blvd.
A statement shared by RPD Chief Eric Hurtado on the RPD Facebook page states the following:
“We are currently investigating a threat to a local business in town. This is an isolated incident. Please be cautious of first responders in the Riverton area. We will provide an update after the situation is resolved.”
County 10 will provide updates as more information is obtained.
