(Riverton, WY) – A two-vehicle collision was reported on Highway 789 near Mazet Road in Riverton at around 4:25 PM today, May 6, the Riverton Police Department shared on its Facebook page. Despite initial reports, a school bus was not struck during the crash.
“Emergency personnel responded to a report of a major accident around 4:25 PM on HWY 789 and Mazet Road,” the RPD stated in its post. “Initial report of several vehicles involved, including a school bus. Upon officer arrival it was determined that a school bus was in the middle of unloading students when a collision occurred behind the bus.”
The post clarifies that “no students were involved,” and explains that two vehicles were slowing down for the stopped bus, and ultimately rear-ended each other before coming to a stop at a tree on the side of the road.
Two subjects were later transported for minor injuries.
