The Riverton Police Department announced they’ll be participating in the national campaign called “Coffee With A Cop” event on Wednesday, October 3rd.
According to RPD’s Facebook page, Brown Sugar Coffee will host the event beginning at 9:00 a.m.
“This event is designed for the public to sit down with officers and have a conversations about different topics in the community” said RPD.
They also indicated that if the event is well attended and there’s enough interest, they would like to turn a meeting with the public into a monthly event.
The national Coffee With A Cop campaign began in Hawthorne, California in 2011. Police were looking for a creative way to interact with the public and to address concerns and questions in a casual setting.
