(Riverton, WY) – The Riverton Police Department is warning residents to be aware of a duct cleaning scam after receiving recent reports from folks in Riverton.
“…Reports have come in about individuals posing as HVAC or duct cleaning professionals in our area,” the RPD Facebook post informs. “These scammers may offer ‘too-good-to-be-true’ prices or claim urgent issues need immediate repair.”
RPD offered the following tips on what to look for to protect yourself:
- Ask for proper identification and company credentials
- Verify their business is licensed and insured
- Be cautious if they demand cash up front or pressure you to act quickly
- Watch for unmarked vehicles or workers without uniforms
- Don’t be afraid to call the company directly to confirm they sent someone
- If something feels off, trust your instincts and report suspicious activity to local law enforcement or the Better Business Bureau.
