(Riverton, WY) – Scammers are reportedly trying to take advantage of folks in relation to this weekend’s Fall Harvest Festival in Riverton, according to a recent post shared on the Riverton Police Department (RPD) Facebook page.
“Anyone wishing to participate in this year’s Harvest Festival, a word of warning. The only way to sign up and pay will be in person or on the Harvest Festival website,” the RPD post states.
The post advises that any requested transactions through Facebook or PayPal in relation to the Harvest Festival should be noted as being suspect.
“There have been some incidents of someone trying to, “hi-jack” websites like this and have the payments sent to alternate sites.”
The Festival takes place this weekend, Saturday, September 28.
