Men’s Basketball: #11 Casper College (16-1) 118 CWC Men (5-11) 72
The Casper men lived up to their 11th ranking in the nation with a 118-72 win over Central to begin Region 9 play. Casper built a 12 point lead early only to Central climb to within five at about the 8 minute mark. The Thunderbirds went on a 15 to 2 run to lead by 18. They would finish off the half with a 25 point lead, 59 to 34. Casper was 64% shooting in the first half hitting 23 of 37 shots in going up by 25.
The second half was more of the same as the T-Birds cruised. Central played much of the 2nd half without their head coach and were also down a player after both received two technicals.

Central is 0-1 in league play and has lost 4 straight.
The 46 point loss is the most in modern CWC men’s basketball history. The previous most was 32, also at the hands of Casper in 2016 under Pat Rafferty.
118 is also the most points allowed by a Central Men’s team since bringing the sport back.
#11 Casper is 16 and 1 now and has won 13 in a row. They average 106 points per game.
Women’s Basketball: Casper College (11-4, 1-0) 81 CWC Women (6-10, 0-1) 53
Casper came out strong and removed the doubt early beating Central in the Region 9 opener 81 to 53. The Thunderbirds held CWC to just five points in each of the first two quarters. Up 17 to 5 after one quarter, Casper used a 10-0 run that spanned almost seven minutes to blow the game open and lead 38 to 10 at half. Each team scored 43 points in the second half. Coach Lindsey Fearing said, “It’s hard to come back from scoring only ten points in the first half. If we had played the way we did in the second half at the start, it would have been a completely different game.”

Central was just 3 for 26, 12% in the first half in scoring only 10 points.
Essy Latu led three in double figures with 14, Paulani Tarawa added 13 and 10 from Rylee Burmester.
Brayle Crossman led the rebounding with 6.
Casper had four in double figures led by Nerea Baena’s 23.
Casper hit 27 of 31 free throws, Central was 11 for 19.
Central is 0-1 in league play and has lost 4 straight.
