(Riverton, WY) – Members of the Wind River Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution honored Riverton Police Department Detective Bhagya Nethicumara with the prestigious National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution Law Enforcement Commendation Award, Karl Falken, Chapter President, shared in a release on June 1.
The criteria for this award is: “The Law Enforcement Commendation Medal is presented to those who have served with distinction and devotion in the field of law enforcement. The medal is intended to recognize exceptional service or accomplishment in the field of law enforcement.”
According to Police Chief, Eric Hurtado, Detective Nethicumara “…has consistently gone above and beyond the
expectations of her role, demonstrating exceptional dedication, professionalism, and investigative expertise. Her casework is marked by meticulous attention to detail, thorough documentation, and a commitment to excellence that sets a high standard for others.”
“She regularly volunteers for additional duties and has stepped forward to take on complex and demanding homicide investigations,” Chief Hurtado continued. “Her persistence and organizational skills enable her to manage challenging caseloads effectively while maintaining the highest quality of work. Detective Nethicumara is also a valued team member who is always willing to assist fellow officers and detectives. Detective Nethicumara has successfully investigated multiple child sexual assault cases, resulting in convictions that have brought justice to victims and enhanced community safety. These cases require not only investigative skills but also compassion, resilience, and unwavering commitment. Detective Nethicumara’s dedication to providing excellent service to the community exemplifies the highest ideals of law enforcement and is truly deserving of this recognition.”
