(Riverton, WY) – The Riverton Police and Fire Departments responded to a reported vehicle fire in the area of Main Street and South Federal Blvd. Friday evening, at around 7:30 PM, RPD Chief Eric Hurtado shared with County 10.
The brakes of a tractor-trailer semi-truck had caught fire, Chief Hurtado explained, when the vehicle stopped near a propane shop.
“Officers used fire extinguishers to keep the flames down until RFD arrived,” Chief Hurtado added. While responders addressed the fire, several tires on the semi exploded, but the fire stayed “contained to the brakes.”
Chief Hurtado said roads in the area were closed for about an hour while crews put out the fire, and that no structures sustained any damage.
